Satellites
The brighter trail is the International Space Station, as it dims when heading into the earth's shadow. Viewed large it may be possible to see the trails of five other satellites. Those two light blurs are the Magellanic Clouds, themselves small satellite galaxies to the Milky Way.
Yesterday's sunset
There's nothing like being on the beach on a summer evening. Maybe view large.

The stairway
This grand stairway is at Abercrombie House, at Bathurst. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone. Here's the musical link.

Across the river
I tossed up whether I prefer this daytime shot of Shanghai or the night shot (previous image): finally I decided to run both. The height of the buildings is slightly deceptive - on the right is the Shanghai Tower, the world's second tallest building at 632M (2073 ft). The building just left of it (unkindly known as "the bottle opener") is the "Shanghai World Financial Centre" and is 492M high. Best viewed large.

City reflections
The city centre of Shanghai, reflected on the Huangpu River.
Fast train, Shanghai
This is the Maglev train, the only one of its kind in operation anywhere and the fastest regular commercial train service. See notes for the speed and a wider image. Here's a musical link. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone. CORRECTION: I have now found that other maglevs have begun operations - but at much lower speeds.

Maglev cruising speed
The Maglev has been tested to over 500 km/hr, but in normal service this is the maximum cruising speed. It covers the 30km trip to the airport (something like an hour in a taxi) in 7min 21 sec!
