Pakse traffic #1

Pakse traffic #1
I found the traffic in Pakse fascinating, with such a mixture of vehicles (and few discernible road rules). Imagine the reaction in most places if you tried running around with a couple of lengthy poles extending fore and aft, as with the motorcycle on the right! On the left is a taxi type vehicle with the rain shield for passengers in place. See also (clickable) PiPs.

These are very adventurous vehicles, but I saw similar two-wheeled transport vehicles in Bali many years ago...

This reminds me of Malaysia and the traffic there. Great photos, George.

A superb series George. I would be a little worried that the lady's flowing garment might catch in the wheel!

WOW!! The chaos!! Insanity! I understand your fascination...that's the sort of place you could just sit at and watch for hours. Funny, brings to mind what it's like to sit in a good vantage point within Las Vegas--a casino, a street, wherever...it's just unbelievable the sights which pass by!

My husband spent six months in the Philippines and was just dumfounded by the roads, traffic and driving. The level of poverty and squalor actually caused his wife at the time to have a mental breakdown. I can totally understand that--when confronted by misery in such a grand scale, I don't think I'd fare any better.

Yet, the chance to visit Asia would be a wonder...so much beauty and diversity. Some day! :)
