Indochine
Luang Prabang was one of the provincial capitals in French Indochina. The old "Indochine" is still easily found in many of the old colonial style buildings in this lovely World Heritage listed town.
Monks Luang Prabang
Every morning, hundreds of Buddhist monks walk the streets of Luang Prabang to gather and distribute alms. With their saffron robes, they make a spectacular sight.
View from Pak Ou Caves
Upstream from Luang Prabang there is an impressive view across the Mekong River to the village of Pak Ou from the caves of that name. In the caves there are huge numbers of Buddha statues - some extremely old.

Loo with a view
After this past week, let's smile for Friday and make it a HFF! It's arrived here, but in other parts of the world it's still 19 November, which I'm told is "World Toilet Day". Here's my salute to that (with music if you wish) . HFF everyone.

Xian MA60
When I came to this site from F*r, I copied several albums across - but somehow never posted many of the images. Time to fill the gaps!
Cross a Russian An24 with American Pratt & Whitney engines, build it in China, and the Xian MA60 is the result. I needn't have been apprehensive, flying in it felt much like any other commuter style airliner.
Temple and fence
This Buddhist temple in Luang Prabang is one of a great many. It also has a traditional Laotian style fence. HFF. Best viewed on black (click on image).
Street cleaner
Only in Laos, I suspect! Street cleaner seen in Luang Prabang.

On the royal carriage, at the former Lao royal palace.
