Australia seems to be a country that respects its porches. Torontonians spent the 1960s ripping the porches off most of the 19th-century houses. That's a strikingly elegant porch, and in its position above the fence draws the eyes in. Mine keep moving back and forth between it and the fence, which I think is a Good Thing.
