I think they see humans as rather curious penguins and generally ignore us. If you get in their way, they will do as they would for any other penguin doing that - take a sharp peck!

That's a superb shot. The background is quite extreme...I only noticed it after looking at the birds for a while...they look like they're trying to get down to the patio for drinks...who dares wins! Great composition.
