Kickin' up Stoor

Kickin' up Stoor
Gkasgow

The Scots word stoor (meaning “dust”) originates from Old French and Anglo-Norman roots, where it first meant “battle” or “tumult,” before shifting metaphorically to storms, spray, and eventually dust. Over time, the meaning narrowed to the fine particles whipped up by wind or storm, and eventually to dust itself — the sense most familiar in Scots today.
