Während die Stationsbauten der ehemaligen Stadtbahn (wie hier jene der Wiener U-Bahn-Station Stadtpark) seit ihrer Errichtung im Jugendstil optisch unverändert blieben, hat sich die Technik der Bahn mehrmals verändert. Es begann gegen Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts mit einer Stadtbahn mit Dampfantrieb, in den 1920er Jahren wurde sie auf elektirschen Abtrieb umgestellt, in den 1970er Jahren wurde aus der Stadtbahn die leistungsfähigere U-Bahn und in den letzten Jahren wurde die U-Bahn auf Waggons der aktuellen 5. Generation aufgerüstet.
While the station buildings of the former light railway (like this one of Vienna's Stadtpark underground station) have remained visually unchanged since their construction in the Art Nouveau style, the technology of the railway has changed several times. It began towards the end of the 19th century with a steam-powered light railway, in the 1920s it was converted to electric traction, in the 1970s the light railway became the more powerful underground and in recent years the underground has been upgraded to carriages of the current 5th generation.
