My uncle served in one of the last non-ceremonial horse cavalry regiments in the U.S. Army. It was converted to a mechanized infantry regiment before being deployed to Europe. Submitted to the Vintage Photos Theme Park for the month-long theme of COSTUMES AND UNIFORMS.

That is interesting! I didn't realize that there were non-ceremonial cavalry in the U.S. as late as 1942.
