This portrait was taken in Christiania, now Oslo, Norway. The town was named in honor of the reigning king of Denmark, Christian IV, in 1624, after it was destroyed by fire and rebuilt. Denmark controlled Norway at that time. The name reverted to Oslo in 1925. Submitted to the Vintage Photos Theme Park for the theme, STUDIO PORTRAIT.

Great Grandfather, Charles Grossenbach, standing center, in Milwaukee,1902 These may be four of the five Grossenbach brothers (all seem to have similar noses) who were in business together. This may have been on the 25th anniversary of the founding of that business but I have yet to get supporting evidence.

Grandpa Rudolph (Rudy) Grossenbach, Great-Aunt Johanna (Kate), Great- Uncle Paul (Pete). The photo of the woman on the wall is of their mother who had recently died. Their father married her sister, Christina, and they had a fourth child, Helen, who was an infant when this photo was taken. A picture of their father, Charles, is on the small table.
