Name that city 3

Name that city 3
I was on the correct side of the plane that day in June!

(I left the angled horizon because that is how it was, what with the plane angling into a turn. Hope I don't make you dizzy!)

Alan Mays, Buelipix, trester88, and 51 other people have particularly liked this photo

Der schräge Horizont macht gar nichts. Im Gegenteil. Das macht das Bild nur authentischer. Fantastischer Blick auf London! :-)

I tried straightening the horizon, but it didn't feel like you were in a plane anymore. Glad you like it this way.

We had been in clouds for quite some time so it was so great to have the break in clouds happen right over the city!

You are so kind. Thank you. That view almost made being in an airplane for 9 hours worth it.

Thank you!
We have a meandering river in our city as well, but the Thames certainly is easily identifiable. I was thrilled that Tower Bridge showed up also.

Thank you. I needed something to make me smile after 9 hours in the air. And Indeed, London it is. We have our own wandering river and tall buildings here in Portland, Oregon, but we don't have Tower Bridge!

Easy one, Tower Bridge is unmistakable;-) In former times many flights used an approach following the river all through London, that was a great flightseeing tour;-)

raingirl club has replied to Gudrun club
I was very pleasantely surprised to get to see this view. The airline and the clouds cooperated!

And yes, Tower Bridge gives it away, though many people recognize the curve of the river.

Yes!!!! It's amazing to me how defined the buildings are. I got lucky not just with the clouds parting at the right moment and the airline taking the "right" path, but with the angle of the sunlight.

This is without a doubt - London. Look at all those bridges and you can make out the Gherkin building.
raingirl club has replied to Jenny McIntyre club
Yes, of course. The Thames is not disimilar to my home's river. Our river winds around much like The Thames, and we have almost as many bridges.

It was fun to be able to zoom in on the photo and see all those buildings, including of course the Gherkin.

One of the easist guessing games I've ever seen. It took me a nano second of course. Still, an extremely impressive capture, Laura and much more pleasant than the aerial view over L. A. as on the cover of Greetings from LA!!

raingirl club has replied to Andy Rodker club
Well, I like to give everyone a win sometimes (with my guessing games). Isn't it fascinating how quickly one can recognize certain places, even from the air?

And yes, that Greetings from LA cover doesn't give a pretty picture! Amazingly, the air has cleared up some in LA, and the same view would be nicer today.

As much as I love going to England, I'm happy I don't live in London. I do live an a city you would consider large, but it has many small neighborhoods and so most of the time feels "comfy" instead.

And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!
peace.

You are right, of course!

On this trip I got to see both the bridge and the tower. Very slowly more photos from my vacation will turn up. There will difinitely be an Eiffel tower photo, but also a bridge over the Seine that is famous at least in our household.
