thanks! the circles are just light bokeh. this is taken very very macro and it did that on a number of the photos i took that up close. i thought they looked like tiny spider webs! but no.

ah, no! those are the spores of the fern (this is the underside of the fern looking up to the light). good question, though.

thank you! and oh yes, ferns are great. i grew up in the woods with lots of sword ferns (this is near where i grew up - where my mom still lives), and our cascade mountain range has many types hidden away in the woods. i now have two types growing off my front deck.
