Sassnitz – "Kurmuschel" von Ulrich Müther.
Der Musikpavillon "Kurmuschel", ein muschelförmig auskragendes Halbdach für Freiluftveranstaltungen, stammt aus dem Jahre 1987 und wurde 2018 saniert.
Die kühnen Schalenbauten des Ingenieurs und Bauunternehmers Ulrich Müther (1934 bis 2007) zählen zu den herausragenden kulturellen Hinterlassenschaften der DDR. Spektakuläre Bauten wie z. B. das Inselparadies in Baabe (1966), die Ostseeperle in Glowe (1968) oder der Teepott in Warnemünde (1968) verkörperten in den 1960er-Jahren Fortschritt und eine bedingungslose Moderne. Ihre Gestaltung stand in Zusammenhang mit den Arbeiten des spanisch-mexikanisch-US-amerikanischen Architekten Félix Candela und des Architekten Herbert Müller aus Halle, die bereits in den 1950er-Jahren mit hyperbolischen Paraboloidschalen aus Beton experimentierten. Die Herstellung von Müthers nur wenigen Zentimetern dünnen Betonschalen war zeitaufwendig, aber materialsparend und entsprach daher den wirtschaftlichen Bedingungen der DDR. Die Schalenbauten wurden schnell zu einem Exportgut, das Müther auch in Libyen, Jordanien, Kuwait, Polen, Kuba und Finnland konzipierte.
