View from the Turkish Tent
Looking east along the valley at Painshill Park, at Cobham in Surrey,
Above the Five Arch Bridge in the centre is the Grotto and at the top of the lake is the Gothic Temple. The latter two both being follies.
Painshill was created by the Hon. Charles Hamilton between 1738 and 1773. Hamilton was a painter, plantsman and a brilliantly imaginative designer. He wanted to create a romantic landscape to stimulate the senses and emotions of visitors.
