Rye's platforms are staggered, so one starts when the one opposite finishes. On some, in the past, there would have been enough space between the ends of the two ramps to have had a crossing, usually with timber planks, allowing luggage barrows and sometimes passengers to cross between the platforms.

Comfortable long distance commuter trains with seats aligned with the windows. I think they were all table seats.
They are now being used for Gatwick Express where the small luggage capacity and narrow entrance doors with fairly steep steps, makes them an inappropriate choice for heavily laden travellers. I think they have messed up the seating to get more in.
Coming back to it, this collage looks like the top of a train set!
Southern 377 133 & 404 - Newhaven Town - 11.1.2014
Three photos of one of the eight coach trains run when Brighton and Hove Albion FC are playing at home, in the Amex Stadium at Falmer. Falmer's platforms have been extended to accommodate the 8 coaches. Seaford's platform 2 was limited to 4 coach trains by a barrier. The whole 12-coach platform has now been refurbished and had railings added on the disused platform 1 side. At intermediate stations like Newhaven Town & Harbour selective door opening/locking is used. This causes inconvenience to road users at the Town Station, when Seaford-bound trains block the level-crossing, while the front four coaches unload in the station.
