Inspired by Jesse Darling's Turner Prize - winning installation - twice turned and toned

Inspired by Jesse Darling's Turner Prize - winning installation - twice turned and toned
Having visited the Turner Prize 2023's Finalists' Exhibition and recorded views of their works, I used a couple of them as the bases for abstract works of my own. I hope that if they were to come across them, they will be pleased that their creativity hasn't ended with their exhibition pieces.
Jesse's work was spread around the gallery and the viewer was in the middle of it. This image evolved by bringing together two versions of the same view back to back and with different treatments in Photoshop.

John FitzGerald has particularly liked this photo

Fine work. Phil. And you may have inspired me to try something similar. Thanks.

While I find it hard to see things in the way some artists see their work, if I can use it to prompt me to have some fun reinterpreting it and create images which appeal to me, then I won't knock their work. If my rehashing of the work appeals to others that's even better. Having fun is what my 'art' is about. I am not trying to make a living from it or even send a message with it. I am certainly not in the business of taking the mickey out of other people's work.
In both my reinterpretations I have included visitors to the exhibition. Seeing and hearing other people's reaction to the works is part of the experience, especially if you are viewing on your own. I tend not to actively engage with others, but it is interesting to hear their conversations and see their expressions as they come into the galleries and look around.
