playing around with the offcuts

playing around with the offcuts
I had been working on some Christmas baubles and had been cutting out circles from patterns I had made.I was left with the outer corners of the original square pattern. This pattern has been created from those four corners.

In Photoshop Elements there is an effect menu called 'Glass Buttons', Most are coloured and have to be placed on an upper layer and the opacity adjusted to colour and 'dome' the image, but the 'translucent' button, when applied to a layer, puts rounded edges on the image itself. The width of the edge can be adjusted. This has had the background, square layer treated like that and the all yellow layer.
The Christmas baubles are simply made with a circular or oval patterned image, with the translucent button applied. A little cap and string or ribbon finishes the bauble, which can then be used singularly or in multiples on cards etc.
