Lots of love in a plastic bag...
hours of picking, sorting and bagging oranges and grapefruit.. by caring hands. Bring Senior Orphans a merrier Christmas.

Boxes to fill..
boxes that are flat in huge stacks, come to life at the fingers of volunteers. They have a system of flipping them open; seal the bottom securely with tape; pass them over to other volunteers, who cut 'hand holds' in the sides. It was an amazing sight!

Stacked 4 high..
Christmas boxes for Polk County Senior Orphans..
Each client, who has requested a Christmas box and gifts, has his/her name place on the outside of their box. The caseworker then sees that the box of Christmas goodies gets to its destination.
Polk County Senior Orphans is an non-profit group; it is staffed by all volunteers.. no one takes a salary..period!
This 'boxing day' is done before Christmas, but Senior Orphans is a year round operation.
All items are donated or purchased with donations. Donated clothing; canned goods; non perishables are kept inventoried in a storeroom.
There is a list of seniors that one can 'adopt' for Christmas; this list has 3 items the senior requests. Items like pajamas, towels, blankets, box fan... things we usually take for granted.
But, these seniors, having very limited income, don't..they must be frugal.
We all were tired after working about 7 .5 hrs, but knowing you can help make a difference somehow makes you feel good.
