LOL, oh Peggy, isn't that just so very annoying?! Confound it all! You know just yesterday Steve came trotting upstairs to say, "Janet! There's a hawk sitting on top of the tree in the meadow!" I hopped out of my seat and followed him out of the room. "Oh, I bet you can see it from the upper bedroom," he said, "But it's going to be a better view from the kitchen." He started down the stairs but I walked into the bedroom because I wasn't taking any chances. A good thing too. "Oh!! Look at that beautiful bird!" A magnificent Red-Tailed Hawk sat, perched majestically on the top branch of the Oak tree. Just as I began to make the move to go down to the kitchen I saw movement and looked again...the hawk had taken flight and flew off over our meadow and into the distance... "Annnnnnd there it goes!" Steve got back to the window just in time to see it disappear below some trees.

I'm sorry you didn't get the picture you were hoping for but look at this rare and unusual Stop Detour beast! You don't see critters like that every day! :D :D

Peggy, I came over here to give you a great big virtual hug for your wonderful comment on my picture! I just loved it. Totally made my night. :) I'm so glad that you enjoy my entries! It makes me happy to know that at least one person reads the words I write...it's not required but sometimes I wonder if I should bother with all the blathering! :D

Thanks for giving my words some value and making me feel so good. *big hugs*

Thanks..Janet'.. It is a long time since I heard the term 'blathering'... which means ''to natter on in a long winded way without making much sense''.. but your comment here earlier made plenty of sense... so please do continue to 'Blather'... :-))

Janet,
Please note - discontinue your 'blathering" ?
Should you stop it seems several of us will hunt you out to demand WHY ?

I try a lot of photos of flying birds, but almost never get a decent one, so I rarely post them. It's good the signs were there for an interesting focal point. ;-o)

The 1st Winter we were here, I looked out the kitchen window ! A hawk .. red shouldered. Perched on a branch of the Ash Tree.
Sat there for quite awhile until he heard something ... then down to the ground to swoop it up
He is The Resident Neighborhood Hawk!

So the Hawk obviously took notice of the detour sign... and shot off... bad luck - it has happened to me too... but maybe next time... eh'.
Cheers from David J'....

Ah, a sign for the Hawk, eh?
Now in Florida, there were signs "Duck Crossing" -- but to the best of my knowledge none of them read it ... besides .. the humans put it too high.
Ducks are fairly low to the ground yet no signs posted at that level.
