I started off with visits to a couple of locations in Croydon - managed to squeeze onto the Almshouses tour as a result of a non-arrival. We were shown round by a resident and the Whitgift Foundation marketing manager. The tour was informative and comprehensive.

When the flats have been renovated and sold on, I expect many high-fliers from Canary Wharf will move in.

I love the effect and I'm glad the picture has come out as I remember it.
A street in the sky
These run at every 3rd floor on the east side of the building. Why only every 3rd floor? Well, the flats are arranged such that some are on a single floor, while others have internal stairs either up or down. We were able to see examples of each.
Corridors of no power
An example showing how decayed the building is appearing these days. This will no doubt be jazzed up with LED lights and the concrete covered over for the nouveau riche who will be appearing in a couple of years.

One of the artists I had a chance to speak to told me that she had only known both lifts to be simultaneously defective twice in the 8 months or so she had lived there, so she may not be so familiar with this view.
