Octopus

Octopus at the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, Oregon.
With your eyes you could barely see the octopus in a small dark cave.
This was shot using only the light that was naturally present at ISO-800, f/2.8, and 1/15th of a second, and further brightened in photo editor to make the octopus more visible.

Ascending Mount Scott and looking west back towards Crater Lake.
Mount Mazama was here until it erupted and suffered a caldera collapse 7,700 years ago.

Crater Lake fills the 6 mile wide crater of a volcano.
See other photos in my Crater Lake album , to see how Wizard Island is positioned and sized within Crater Lake.

Oregon Coast
|
|
|
At many locations along the Oregon coast, I've seen no one else for miles in either direction. Especially in sparsely populated southern Oregon. So by Oregon standards, this constitutes a crowded beach.
View from cliffs at Devil's Punchbowl.
Choices, choices...

Should I go straight towards Mount Hood?
Left to Canada?
Or right to Mexico?
How many hours of daylight remain?
I chose to head towards Mexico.
Bizarrely, after walking about 1/4th of a mile towards Mexico, there was another one of these signs, and despite walking away from Canada, the mileage had dropped to 548.
