A Happy Wednesday Wall to all. Sometimes the ordinary is an oasis of calm in a maelstrom of chaos. Enjoy every moment of it.

Ahoy!

May I wish a Happy Fence Friday to everyone. This is one of the playgrounds in the Keith Holmes Reserve in Mandurah. The white fence you can see is part of the pedestrian bridge over to Dolphin Quay and the Mandurah marina. This picture was taken early in the morning, thus devoid of children playing pirates. We in Western Australia are moving from Karambang (Second Spring) into Birak (First Summer) and our days are warming up (34°C today), though not consistently this early in the season (21°C forecast for next Monday). Many commiserations for those of you stuck in colder weather: wrap up warm and keep yourselves safe.

This cycle path adjoins the Kwinana Freeway which runs from Mandurah to Perth, a distance of some 80 kilometres (50 miles).

A Happy Bench(ish) Monday to all. I hope your week begins well and gradually improves as the days pass until it achieves the status of “spectacular”. This may look like a soft and comfortable sofa, but the Old Owl rear end will attest to its hardness. It (the bench not my bum) sits behind the Sutton Street Hall in Mandurah, a fibro building which was a Presbyterian Church way back in ancient times (early 20th century, I think) and is now a Multicultural Services Centre. [UPDATE Actually it was a Methodist Chapel and is newer than I thought, being constructed in 1940.). The bench, of course, is new. I think this looks better seen larger and on a dark background. Please press Z to see whether you agree. (PS Sorry about the crappy car park.)

The pond is fleeting, the result of rainfall over the past week. Normally it is a small, transient pool of water which gradually disappears as the heat of summer - Birak and Bunuru - bakes the land. These ducks have taken advantage of the rain.

Happy Fence Friday to all. I hope your day and your weekend are packed with fun and frolics (assuming fun and frolics are what you desire, of course). Look after you and everyone else you meet (even if you disagree with them or don't really like them).

A Happy Wednesday Wall to everyone. I hope your week has been good so far, and that the rest of it is even better. Cling to moments of joy in this uncertain world. (I'm not 100% sure whether this picture qualifies for a "wall" group. Dear HWW Administrators, if you decide this is not wall-ish enough for the group, please feel free to remove it. I won’t feel offended, honestly.)

A Happy Bench Monday to all. I hope you have a grand start to the week and that it just gets better as it proceeds to next weekend. This bench is beneath the massive Moreton Bay Fig which sits on Stingray Point in Mandurah. To the left is Mandjar Bay; to the right is the estuary leading to the Indian Ocean a kilometre away; ahead is the traffic bridge (the "new old bridge") leading from the foreshore on the left to Halls Head just across the river. Through the arches of the bridge is the vast Peel/Harvey Inlet, which is bigger than Sydney Harbour. The reversed sign by the bench is part of the Christmas/Summer decorations in this part of the city; it lights up in the evening.

Kombi

May I wish a Happy Fence Friday to everyone. I hope your day and your weekend are spectacularly delightful. This fence is preventing the VW Kombi from wreaking havoc on the foreshore and frightening the swans and their cygnets. (Actually, the Kombi is part of the Christmas decorations which are being erected by the Shire in Mandurah at the moment.)
