That's why the shelters are there, so that fishermen have somewhere to hide if the wind gets strong (which it can do on the south coast). It can also be very cold, since the Southern Ocean is bounded by Antarctica as well as by Australia. Brrr!

The jetty itself is built to withstand the waves and the wind.

It was a trifle cold, George, but the sea wasn't so bad. Just a few hundred metres from here a few hardy souls were windsurfing. Not me, though; I was wrapped up tight with a Driza and a beany.
