Little Penguin under St Kilda Pier.
At dusk there are large numbers of these Little Penguins coming out of the sea to roost under the pier. This was the only one we saw during the day. It may have been ill, very young, very old or perhaps just hungover from an all-night bender and a dodgy fish kebab. Whatever, you have to be careful not to disturb them.

Early morning, Mandurah estuary, WA
Cormorants, gulls, pelican.
Press Z to biggen it up.
"The common cormorant (or shag)
Lays eggs inside a paper bag,
You follow the idea, no doubt?
It is to keep the lightning out.
But what these unobservant birds
Have never thought of, is that herds
Of wandering bears might come with buns
And steal the bags to hold the crumbs."
(Poem by Christopher Isherwood)

Primrose Valley, near Filey.
HFF to all. This one might not be there for much longer. It may not even be there now. It is a very moveable coastline.

Not just the fence, but the rationale behind the need for the fence (though I can remember that in the 1960s and 70s there was nothing between the meadow and the edge and we just walked merrily along or ran about.) Biggen up the picture by pressing Z.
Bempton Cliffs in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Happy Fence Friday to all. I hope your weekend is not too soggy.

Happy Fence Friday, everyone. I hope your weekend is a pleasant one.
(Just in case anyone is interested, this is the seafront in Filey, on the east coast of Yorkshire. On the left hand edge of the picture is a white house where my wife used to stay on holiday when she was a little, little girl.)

Skipsea, East Riding of Yorkshire.
I read that this coast loses on average 2 metres of land per year. The chances are this fence will be gone in less than six months.
All the same, HFF to everyone (whilst the fence is still there). Have a great and glorious weekend.

(Note to HFF friends. I’m not sure whether these can be classified as fences. Structurally and aesthetically they are almost the same, but functionally they are quite different. No matter. If you think they should be kicked out of the group I don’t mind. ’S a nice photo though, innit? Biggen it up to see it better.)
Happy Fence Friday to all. I hope your weekend is a bright and lovely one.
