I like the contrasts. The ruin is Camber Castle near Winchelsea, built between 1512 and 1514. The windmills are obviously much newer.

There's also the contrast between the bucolic foreground with sheep and the industrial distance.

Not often I explain things, I know; and I don't really need to here, but ...

It's also for Pam J because she tells me she misses England sometimes.

Maybe one day people will love the turbines and accept them gladly as part of their landscape. That is pretty much what happened with the railways. Although now I think of it, electrification is an eyesore.

I think many people already do love them, LimboC, or at least view them with a benign tolerance. My own reaction has changed over the past few years. Where I live (rural Western Australia) they are a rare sight, though more common down in the south of the state. I saw them in England when I visited some years ago and thought “Hmm, they are rather intrusive regardless of their efficacy.”

This time I saw many more. My reaction was different in that they seemed to be an integral part of the landscape. Perhaps that was a reflection of how many there were (or seemed to be) compared with 2016-17.

Whatever, they are there and it it is now (to paraphrase the sainted Terry Pratchett). They are part of what we see and probably part of what we need.
