This is one remaining facade of a refuge for the homeless run by nuns (Sisters of Mercy) in the East End. It's bolted to a modern building. Around the corner, they preserved the Artillary Lane and Crispin Street facades of the other (somewhat newer?) part of the refuge (now housing for LSE students). See where this picture was taken. [?]
