Chapel Market (east side)
The start of a walk with David Rosenberg called Visionaries, Rebels and Dissenters: A walk through Islington’s radical history. David's walks are great -- he knows a ton about radical history. Near this spot, there's a pub where the BNP used to meet in the 1980s. They'd get pissed and then go out into Chapel Market to try to recruit new members for their racist political party. They didn't have much success. Islington has a long history of leftist, anti-racist politics, as I learned on the walk. I doubt UKIP did very well in this borough in the recent election. Thank goodness for Islington.
