SC44 - architecture
Because of an allergy to most modern architecture - too hard, too much glass and harsh lines, and to me, utterly unrelatable - I never intended to go to Encarnación market in Seville. But in one of those quirks of life I found myself at the market and there found that modern architecture can be organic, relatable.
Designed by Jürgen Mayer, and constructed of birch wood from Sweden, six parasols known by the locals as setas (mushrooms) led to the structure being officially named as Setas de Sevilla. Sited as it is in the old quarter of Seville amongst traditional, ornate architecture it fits surprisingly well; each style contrasting and complementing the other.
