Café bench

Café bench
The Bridge Café sits next door to a cycle shop between the River Parrett and the Parrett cycle trail in Langport serving the many cyclists and walkers as well as locals with delicious organic home-made food. Tables and benches are alongside the river and this one-of-a-kind bench at the entrance.

HBM everyone, have a great week!

It "smells" of shipyard not far away.
Maybe "they" can talk sea things . . .
It could be interesting.
Thank you.

Way back before the railways the R. Parrett was navigable as far as Langport, (about 30K as the boats sail) special barges were built as the river, though tidal, is too shallow for bigger boats. The old quay and warehouse are now converted and parts are still in use. Since the barges were very shallow beamed but also very long, unique to the area it’s quite possible that some were made and mended here.

Not sure but certainly possible. Langport had a railway junction and two stations - prior to Beeching that is!
