HFF all!
This is the Severn Bridge - the original, authentic, road crossing between England and Wales, replacing the ferry. It was part of the M4, the main arterial route between the two countries. Years later as the bridge aged and the volume of traffic having increased substantially it was decided a new bridge was essential. The M4 was diverted to the new bridge and the existing motorway renamed the M48. Still open, joining the M4 on the other side of the river, and taking traffic mainly to and from the northern M5 to my mind this bridge is the more beautiful of the two R. Severn crossings.
I vividly remember watching this bridge being built, a marvel of engineering of its time.
Have a great weekend everyone.
