RGB Matrix V3.04 - different LED board
| |
|
Ledsee.com seem to have switched the manufacturer without a notice on their website. The forward voltages for this module are different, but similar enough to the old boards. Color balance is good with 3x 270Ω resistors. The pinout is the same, but there are some mechanical differences. Fortunately it still fits to my PCBs. Switching to mechanically smaller through hole resistors may be a good thing.

Quite silent, compared to usual server room noise. Not a single failure in 3 years 24/7 operation.

Here it runs in a normal 33MHz PCI slot. Not good for the bandwidth, but there was enough time for incremental backups during the night.

Linux support for this one is very good. The driver is in the kernel and tools can be downloaded on their website.

Labeling the wires is a must!
You don't want to find out later, that the controller maybe doesn't identify the drives by serial number and the array is f*cked up.

Nothing special. It just synced the data from the HP DL385 using rsync and dirvish . I wrote some scripts that did MD5 sums and automatic test, just to be sure.
There's a total of 10 fans in this system and it is still easy on the ears. Good fans.

This used to be the computer room. Not for the servers, but for the damn windows machines. I was the admin there for about 3+x years. The black box was our backup server (1TB raid-5 array, 3ware 8506-8). It ran on SLES10-SP2, just like the main server: HP Proliant DL385, 2GB, dual opteron, 35GB 10k scsi raid-1, external 1TB raid-5 array with hot spare: infortrend eonstore ES A08U-G2421. It had an HP USV too, but that sucked in terms of software.

Some keyboards, a computer (one of very many) is still left, an old USV and some crap.
