Anilara longicollis, PL1150F

Anilara longicollis, PL1150F
Adelaide foothills, on dead Eucalyptus microcarpa foliage, 20 Dec 2009 (18681) crop.

This small Buprestid beetle (c. 7 mm long) is commonly found on the dead leaves of Grey Box (Eucalyptus microcarpa) as well as other Eucalypts. It and other Anilara species are attracted to dying foliage on fallen branches and their larvae breed in the dead wood. Grey Box is thus both an adult and a larval host plant for this species.
