Der Bau von Fernandos Stadtmauer wurde 1368 unter König Dom Fernando I begonnen und 1437 fertiggestellt. Dies war der zweite Ring, der durch die Erweiterung der Stadt erforderlich geworden war und eine Länge von ca. 2500 Metern und eine Höhe von rund 10 Metern hatte.
