Jays are shy woodland birds, rarely moving far from cover. It must have been cold enough for this one to come looking for food. Is this your garden, Klaus?

Normally you're right Amelia. But in Hamburg since a couple of years they are living here in the parks and garden areas. This one knows my garden just for some times:

In the forest, jays are shy animals and make a fierce screeching when one approaches. But in the city they are completely different. They' re used to us humans. In winter they get the food that is actually intended for songbirds, now they bath in front of our eyes in the water bucket that stands in the garden. And they get blackbird eggs behind our back for a gourmet snack.
