Waiting Patiently

Waiting Patiently
I found this Garden Spider lurking in the centre of its web, which covered around half of one of my shed windows. It was quite happy to let me get very close with my camera and macro lens.

Guydel, Xata, Amelia, aNNa schramm and 20 other people have particularly liked this photo

Superb macro and pin sharp, I can never get close enough or there is too much breeze.

Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet eating her curds and whey,
when down came a spider that sat down beside her,
so she pulled its legs off!!

Excuse my humour I can't help myself :-)

Thank you so much DOMCHO............you're very kind.

The spider was on a window in my shed, so I was able to brace myself against the overhang of the roof, and more importantly, my Olympus camera has excellent image stabilisation.

a nice close-up of the spider with good colors.

As we use mostly the same gear - how is your experience with focus stacking? I have a hard time getting good results...
Keith Burton club has replied to oHo
I haven't used focus stacking a lot..........and rarely outdoors. I find the 60mm to be a bit of hit and miss. It's a bit small for my banana fingers, so indoors I generally use a tripod. It really is just a case of persevering until you get the shot you want.

There are some good videos on YouTube on different techniques.

I have an irrational fear of spiders, but garden spiders are certainly not as scary as the ones that scuttle under the setee, or settle on the ceiling, or even get trapped in the bath. I have been known to move a bed so that the spider wasn't above me.
Keith Burton club has replied to Amelia club
I completely understand..........I'm not overly keen on them indoors either. We have a "spider-catcher" which is a long tube attached to a battery operated motor which sucks the spider up without hurting it. You can then take it outside, turn off the suction and shake it out.
