Female Mallard (+PiP)

Female Mallard (+PiP)
Taken at Emsworth Harbour, Hampshire. Mallards are my favourite ducks, and I think the female is much more beautiful than the male. There's a shot of a male mallard (taken earlier this year) in the PiP for comparison.

Please view large if you have the time..............thank you.

Wishing everyone a splendid weekend (especially if you have an extended one)!

Who was duck, to swim around the world, to travel without a passport and cross borders, like who spends time. Looking at this duck I realize that we have complicated our lives. Have a nice and healthy weekend Keith.

The water in both pictures is beautifully captured Keith. The males are beautiful, and that iridescent-green head and bright yellow bill is quite stunning, but I have to agree with you, the female has an understated beauty. Love both of these shots!!

Enjoy the rest of the BH :)

I think I prefer the female duck rather than the mallard too - okay she doesn't have the vivid colours like the mallard, but the pattern on her wings and body are much better. I hope you are having a good weekend - lately we seem to have a 3 day weekend all the time!!!!!

As always your eye for detail such as the gentle ripples surrounding her is impressive, she looks very serene there not a ruffled feather to be seen. The capture of the male is as impressive but like you say the understated female is the more beautiful.
Hope your weather is as good as it is on the Levels!

Our weather is smashing at the moment............sunny and warm without being too hot, which is just how we like it. I hope you're having a splendid BH weekend.
