Dalmation Pelican (+ PiP)
Another image of one of the pelicans at WWT Arundel plus another in the PiP.
The pelicans have their flight feathers trimmed annually to prevent them from flying off. This seems cruel but this species of pelican has declined greatly over the past 100 years. The most likely reason is habitat loss due to human activities such as the drainage of wetlands and land development. These ones are part of conservation efforts taking part throughout Europe.

Keith Burton club has replied to Günter Klaus clubI'm pleased you like this one...........when this was taken the pelicans were a relatively new addition to the wildlife centre, so seeing and photographing them was a bit of a novelty.
Have a good evening........and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Best wishes, Keith,
