Good to get the pair. There are making lots of noise when I passed them a few streets away (on my way to the Dentist!)

Good pair of Sparrows Keith, seem to be making a comeback from the diminishing numbers over the past few years.

Apparently numbers are around 70% less since the early noughties. They're on the Red List at the moment (listed as least concern, but numbers still falling).

I can't remember the last one I saw in my garden :-(

I was going to make a similar comment to Maurice's. I remember swarms of sparrows in London when I was at uni there in the late' 70s but, working in London from the mid' 80s to the until the mid '90s, not a single sparrow to be seen. Pleased if they have come back.
Good capture of the pair of them, Keith.

NOM NOM NOM!!! :D Isn't it a joyful experience to watch them manipulate seeds for the perfect angle? And then that wonderful sound of the cracking seed cover?! Your picture has awesome timing! And full size--the wonderful details are fantastic!! I also loved seeing the male. They are both stunners. Nicely done sir! :)

Thanks for your kind comments about these images folks. I'm always happy to see Sparrows as their numbers are declining in the UK.

Ah yes thanks Keith. When we were growing up, sparrows were in abundance, blackbirds and Robins we saw a lot too. The most entertaining birds were the acrobatic blue tits. This reminded me that the blue it’s used to peck at the frozen cream ( whole milk) which had expanded in the milk bottles in the doorstep on icy days......how things have changed....

I'd forgotten about the milk freezing and expanding from the bottle with the foil top! Good memories.
