Beautiful picture Keith. I can almost hear the rustling of the leaves as you walk through the forest.

Glad you like it Rosa.............but not much rustling I'm afraid as it had been raining hard.

Swish-swish-swish...I want to walk there! Love your old poetic names of things, too. Ours are called things like Dead Man, Horse Flats, Dogtown, Crippled Woman Creek, or my favorite local one, Sheepy Ridge. Similar in Australia and Canada, I suppose.

Thanks Diane. Glad you approve. I'm very privileged to live so close to such beautiful countryside.

I do like your place names though - they're so descriptive and conjure up all sort of stories.

I know Savenake Forest and The New Forest from Hampshire, but this one had passed me by. Except that it must be close to the village of Bere, I presume! How's that for mental deduction!
Fine shot!

Hope this is helpful Andy:

The Forest of Bere is a mixed-use partially forested area in Hampshire immediately north of Fareham, Portsmouth and Havant and including a small part of the South Downs National Park.

The former uninterrupted forest is now a mix of woodland, open space, ponds, streams, heathland, farmland and downland interspersed by minor villages and the major settlements of Waterlooville (with Cowplain) and Eastleigh (with Chandlers Ford). There are a number of paths and bridleways for walking and cycling. In the southern portion, towards the area south of the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, conifer plantations were created in the twentieth century.

(Info from Wikipedia)

As far as I can see there is no village called Bere anywhere near the forest. The nearest one would be Bere Regis in Dorset.
