Minding their own business
Two flickers
A rhapsody of waxwings
Oh those heemy waxwings
Just being a hawk
Christmas gone and past
Above us only the skylight
Three bits of salt on white paper
Nuthatch in the rain
Grumpy grosbeak in grey gross weather
Jumpy
New moon sinking
Resting my eyes

Old friends
Goldfinches
They read the forecast
No need for a chase
Pine siskin
Cloudy and not quite full
Moony sky from our door

All hail!

Jove and his moons
Tom-tit and nuthatch
Incognito, incompetent
Christmas parrot
Just for comparison's sake
Short days, now getting longer
Jove's family rising

Mother plant, or Great-grandmother plant

A blast for the new year
From our back deck we can see probably hundreds of New Year's Eve fireworks in a semi-circle around the southside of Town, up the Waterford Valley, and out to the suburb of Mount Pearl.
But close at hand, our neighbours just up the street put off an especially good display of fireworks each year. This was one of their blasts tonight.
