Common Tern

Common Tern
These birds are threatened in Michigan and protected in many states. Worldwide, evidently, they remain fairly common.

In Saint Ignace they're truly common, with several hundred nesting pairs. Their normal mode is perpetual motion. Over the years I've wasted many many pixels trying to get a worthwhile photograph of one in flight. This one's not quite as sharp as I'd like, but it's close.
