There's something noble and sad about an empty wine bottle. It has given of itself, so that we might feel a little better, if only for a short time. At least the brick walls and pipes are softened and blurred for a while. In vino veritas.

Thanks for your comment. I have been fascinated by wine and other bottles, mostly empty, for a few years now. Yes, an empty bottle is part of life's audit trail - if you look at the labels, such a lot goes into the pictures and designs, yet we enjoy them and the bottle's contents briefly (if we even notice the label) and then just pass them on through the re-cycling system with hardly a thought.
