The images in this upload were taken during the first day of our annual Native Orchid Conference symposium field trip. We began just outside of Gorham, New Hampshire (the site of the symposium) and spread south and west into the nearby country side. We saw four orchid species and numerous other wildflowers.

Two-day trip to the research center known as Mountain Lake Biological Station in southwest Virginia. We found a number of these orchids on the grounds of the research station. We were actually looking for another orchid species, but found this one in several places.

Continuation of my day trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina to photograph wildflowers. I spent two additional days up there with a friend from Connecticut, Sam Saulys. She is a friend and photographer whom I met at a Native Orchid Conference many years ago.

Just a quick trip up the road to one of our South Carolina state heritage preserves -- Ashmore Heritage Preserve.
I went to a location in the preserve where I've seen these orchids in previous years. The number of blooming plants varies from year to year. This year there were 5 blooming plants.
