There are lights already on my mantlepiece

My sister spent a thousand pounds on Christmas decorations last year. I think she would like yours :)

How much? I think mine cost me about £25 altogether. The expensive part was the garland, I think it was close to £20 and I had to have a good re-think about getting it in the first place. Then baubles I'd already got, apart from the ribbon ones - they were quite cheap from Asda, beads again from Asda were about £3, but I still had two strands left over, then the lights! So it doesn't cost much to do decorations. I hope you sister had some really good ones for that price.

Oh Gracie, it's so easy. Just put some tiny lights in a sort of swag design along the mantlepiece. Then buy a fake pine swag/bower, add a few ribbons and pine cones, then get some beads - tie them around loosely, grab a few baubles and hang them from the loops of the beads. Interweave the swag with the lights and there you are! With your talent for making things, this would be a walk in the park for you!

Minor detail though. I have no fireplace. :-(

Aha - yes that changes things. How about a Christmas shelf? Get Rick to put a shelf up and decorate it like this. Put the shelf where you can take it down after Christmas. :)
