Port Meadow

Port Meadow is an ancient common on the edge of Oxford, on the floodplain of the River Thames. it is a site of special scientific interest, having been grazed for centuries and never ploughed, and is rated as a Scheduled National Monument. Its beauty lies in its wide views, which have hitherto been carefully protected, but these views are now under threat from insensitive building developments.

In this album I have included the adjoining nature areas of Burgess Field and Fiddler's Island, as well as the Thames Path and the nearby village of Binsey.
