snow castles in the trees

I found something which has depressed me (my health problem out of sight and mind until June, I can be depressed by other things). I found a 25-year-old photo of an Indian village where I stayed last month, an extraordinarily beautiful shot which, if I'd taken it would have have been the "jewel in the crown" of my India pictures.

I wondered why and how I'd missed it, having twice stood in that very spot. Then I realised why - the great and magnificent trees behind the buildings, which make the picture, have gone. It made me rue the fact that 25-years ago, when India (and so many other places in the world) were more picturesque than they are now, I wasn't free to travel.
