1967 INDY Gas Turbine Car

Built by Andy Granatelli this car led 171 laps before having gearbox failure. It eventually finished sixth. They changed the rules for 1968 which eliminated the car from competing again.

A few years later I watched them sell Andy Granatelli's turbine powered Corvette at the Kruse Auction in Auburn, Indiana. It sounded like a jet airplane when they fired it up.
