Der Erholungspark Marzahn wurde Ende der 80er Jahre (anlässlich der 750- Jahrfeier Berlins) eröffnet. Seitdem wurden regelmäßig neue Themengärten geschaffen. Der erste war ein Chinesischer Garten. Momentan ist ein Englischer Garten im Bau.
2017 findet die Internationale Gartenbau-Ausstellung (IGA) in Berlin statt;
Hauptstandort bilden dann die Gärten der Welt Im "Plattenbaubezirk" Hellersdorf.
