I forgot we had this. From the days when ministers drove to the radio station to teach/preach "live" on the air. From a time before television, reel-to-reel, cassettes, satellites, minidiscs, CD's, DVD's, mp3 files, or live world-wide streams. It was a time when the Sears and Roebuck catalog brought the "big store" to the community, when most of the community went to church, and most towns had only one pub or "beer joint" as they were called. Life was simpler then, and, to tell the truth, you could leave your doors and windows opened at night without fear of being murdered in the middle of the night. Simpler, yes, and perhaps too "simple" for some, but the argument could be made that people were nicer in general back then, and everyone really seemed to show care and concern for each other. Yes, I remember the day when people actually waved at each other in my community as they drove down the street, and we actually knew our neighbors' names. This little podium/pulpit brings back memories of a simpler time. I miss those days sometimes.
A nice relic from days gone by. (WLMR, Chattanooga)
