The tour train paused in, unusually, platform 1 at Hornsby to check the loco and take on more passengers.

Loco 3813 has paused to cross an Up freight headed by 4540 at a location whose name I failed to record but somewhwere between Taree and Kempsey. The driver of the diesel is preparing to exchange safeworking staffs with the location's signaller. The signaller has a a similar hoop to the one which the driver can be seen holding. A staff is attached to each by leather straps. See note. A fellow www.railpage.com.au/ user, jd4980, suggests that this is Kundabung.

At Kempsey loco 3813 stopped for water. The unusual visit of steam power attracted people from the town who joined the passengers in looking around and photographing.
