Loco 3813 has paused to cross an Up freight headed by 4540 at a location whose name I failed to record but somewhwere between Taree and Kempsey. The driver of the diesel is preparing to exchange safeworking staffs with the location's signaller. The signaller has a a similar hoop to the one which the driver can be seen holding. A staff is attached to each by leather straps. See note.
